Bluebonnet Season

My sweet fiancee took me on a small outing near Dallas (Texas) to see the famous bluebonnet flowers that bloom all over the side of the highway in picturesque clumps of blue-violet petals. It was beautiful. Here are some of the photographic results.

This photo kinda breaks several of the "rules" of photography, but I really like it. I love the colors and the light coming through the plants. It was a really pretty day and I just sat down in the grass, sustained several bug bites, and pointed my camera (without looking) up toward the sky. I think the blues/greens/mustard colors would make an excellent spring or summer wedding palette...random thought.

There were also these adorable yellow flowers. I'm sorry to say I don't know what they're called. However, if you live in Texas you can get a custom license plate with the bluebonnet flower on it. Now, isn't that special?

little bride girl

Recently I had the good fortune to re-discover (in my own closet) my mother's wedding dress from the 1970s. It is absolutely gorgeous and makes a great background for romantic wedding jewelry photography. I can't wait for the opportunity to photograph another wedding! I love the small details, as well as the big moments. Ah, love.
Pictured here are a pair of earrings custom designed and created by me from gold, crystal, antique brass, and czech glass. I feel so lucky to own this dress, but even more lucky to have the wonderful person who wore it all those years ago as my mother. I hope you enjoy these photos, there will be more to come as I have time to properly photograph this amazing dress. So, let's just call this the preliminary vintage dress post. More to come, my friends.
xoxo, Ashley
